1. What is Optical Protection OLP?

OLP (Optical Fiber Line Auto Switch Protection Equipment) - Optical Fiber Line Auto Switch Protection Equipment. The Optical Fiber Line Auto Switching Protection (OLP for short) is an automatic monitoring and protection system that is independent of the communication transmission system and is built entirely on the physical link of the optical cable.

The line protector OLP is a transmission device that works on the optical layer and has the characteristics of independent and transparent transmission signals, safety and reliability, and fast fault recovery. It can help users to set up a non-blocking, highly reliable, safe and flexible optical communication network with high disaster resistance.

2. What protection methods are available?

There are two types of protection methods as follows.

    1+1 protection method

With independent and transparent transmission signals, safety and reliability, and fast fault recovery, the 1+1 optical circuit protection card can help users to set up a non-blocking, highly reliable, safe and flexible optical communication network with high disaster resistance.

    1:1 protection method

OLP protects the line by means of 1:1 (selective transmission and reception) protection, which is also used extensively in transmission links because the 1:1 protection method has much lower losses compared to 1+1.

3.  In what scenarios is OLP used?

OLP optical line protection equipment is a functional device used in the field of optical fibre communication for automatic switching of the main and standby optical links, which can monitor the status of the optical signals of the main and standby links in real time, and when the main link optical cable fails, the system automatically switches to the standby link transmission to protect the normal operation of the system and improve system stability.
