1.25G optical module:
Refers to the optical module with a transmission rate of 1.25G, which is packaged in SFP and can transmit up to 160KM. Then how to connect 1.25G with optical fiber jumpers, let’s give two examples below:
1. The working wavelength of 1.25G SFP SX optical module is 850nm, it adopts LC duplex interface, and the transmission distance can reach 550m when used with multi-mode dual-fiber optical fiber patch cord OM1/OM2.
2. The working wavelength of the 1.25G SFP LX optical module is 1310nm, it adopts LC duplex interface, and the transmission distance can reach 10KM when used with single-mode dual-fiber optical fiber jumper OS2.
Refers to an optical module that can send and receive 10G data signals per second. According to different packages, 10G optical modules can be divided into XENPAK optical modules, X2 optical modules, XFP optical modules and SFP+ optical modules. Currently, 10G SFP+ optical modules are more popular.

40G optical module:
Refers to the optical module with a transmission rate of 40G, and its package form is CFP and QSFP+, which is mainly used for backbone network transmission. The 40G QSFP+ optical module is one of the most widely used, but there are many models. Let‘s list the types of optical fiber jumpers corresponding to the 40G QSFP+ SR4 optical module.
The 40G QSFP SR4 optical module has a working wavelength of 850nm and uses MPO connectors. When used with OM3 multimode fiber jumpers, the transmission distance is 100M, and when used with OM4 multimode fiber jumpers, the transmission distance is 150M.
The transmission rate of the 100G optical module is 100G. The types of 100G optical modules currently on the market mainly include: CXP optical module, CFP optical module, CFP2 optical module, CFP4 optical module and QSFP28 optical module. The most widely used in the market is the QSFP28 optical module.
The working wavelength of the 100G QSFP28 LR4 optical module is 1295.56-1309.14nm, using CWDM transmission technology and LC duplex interface. When connected with single-mode dual-fiber OS2 fiber jumper, the transmission distance can reach 10KM.
In general, multimode optical modules are used with multimode fiber optic jumpers, and vice versa. Generally, at the same transmission rate, optical modules with different working wavelengths have different transmission distances. Thanks for the support!
