Five common optical module packaging standard forms

With the development of technology, the packaging form of optical modules is also evolving. The volume is changing in the direction of becoming smaller and smaller. So what are the common forms of optical module encapsulation?

SFP encapsulation
SFP optical module is a small pluggable optical module, the highest rate of up to 155 m / 622 m / 1.25 G / 2.125 G / 4.25 G / 8 G / 10 G, usually with LC jumper wire connection.
The SFP light module contains 100 MB SFP, gigabit SFP, BIDI SFP, CWDM SFP and DWDM SFP. Each light module has been tested for strict compatibility to ensure the reliability and stability of products, and is fully compatible with various brands of switches and other equipment.
SFP + packaging
The shape of the SFP+ light module is the same as that of the SFP light module, only the supported rate can reach 10G, which is often used for medium and short distance transmission. Compared with XFP light module, SFP+ has no CDR module inside, so the volume and power consumption of SFP+ are smaller than that of XFP.
CFP encapsulation
CFP is probably the most common form of encapsulation in optical modules. The main target is the application of 100G (also including 40G) and above rate.
QSFP + packaging
QSFP+ optical module is a small four-channel thermal pluggable optical module, which supports connection with MPO and LC fiber jumper, and is larger in size than SFP+ optical module.
X2, XENPAK encapsulation
The X2, XENPAK light modules are mostly used with gigabit Ethernet, usually connected to SC jumpers.
